It is being spread that Fidel Castro is dead. Do you believe it? Who knows if he is. The news has been quiet except for blogger Perez Hilton saying that an official confirmation is coming. Who really knows.
What we can learn as bloggers is how viral things can be. A whisper here and there, can spread like a wildfire. This is what you can use in blogging.
How you ask? Let a few fellow bloggers know about your post that you want to catch on. Get it Stumbled using Stumbleupon and get in on Digg are some of the main ways to get something to start catching on in a viral way.
Are there any other ways? Of course there are, you can advertise your posts a little via Google Adwords, YPN, or other ways. These cost though and many bloggers like these to be completely word of mouth and free.
The key to viral is having something catchy like Castro is Dead! Of course that is catchy, many people are interested in this. So much so that Miami has been planning for years on how to prevent riots in the street from celebrations. Always think catchy.
Avoid subject that are boring. Always work on your titles as much as you work on your blog post. Seriously. WORK on your TITLES. Lame title will equal lame viewership and no viral marketing.
Send your post to other bloggers as I mentioned above. Try to always develop your relationships with other bloggers so that when the time comes they will be on your side. If someone emails me and says hey I have this great post please link it, I don’t pay it even a thought. If it is from a friend, then I read it and am always inclined to help a friend out.
Just today I wrote a friend asking how he was doing. Always develop your friends. Is this selfish? No way, I promote my friends as often if not more often than I am promoted. I want to know my friends thus this is not selfish.
Castro is DEAD viral Marketing.
