YPN Cashing in Off the Back of Publishers

I haven’t used Adsense for over a year and a Yahoo Cashing in on the backs of publishershalf so I am not sure exactly what you are seeing, but with Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN!) there has been huge consistency.

You all know that I like YPN and have been pretty loyal, but this week has once again topped it off. I have this site that gets routinely 30 – 40 clicks a day. It is not a huge site, but it can make a decent income for the average blogger. You see the clicks normally range around $1.10 – $1.20. This is my earnings, so this site makes around $40 a day. Decent since this site takes me less than an hour a week.

The problem is from time to time YPN likes to become selfish as I am sure Google Adsense does as well. You see one day I am cruising along making $1.10 a click and then BAM I make .45 a click. It makes me pretty upset. Why? Because I also advertise in this area for another website and know that clicks are charging upwards of $2 – $5 a click. So I hate it when Yahoo decides to be greedy for their own pockets.

They do this from time to time normally for a few days and then it kicks back. I should do a study and see what pattern if any this follows. Does it come in a normal cycle for their stockholders, maybe a month or so before they tel the world their earnings? Who knows. I could spend some time and figure it out, but at this point am just grumbling about it.

YPN doesn’t answer my question except to say that they see no difference in payout. HAH, let me look here $1.10 to 40 cents! No difference? They could look at their earnings and also see that they are probably making millions more a day by ripping their publishers off 2 – 3 days a month. Do the math, if they just make $5 million more per day for 3 days month this translates to a nice profit of $180,000,000.00 per year in additional profit. This is profit stolen from the people who earn them their money.

I strongly recommend to Yahoo that they take care of their publishers, because they have already ticked off most of the world with the mistakes they have made with YPN.
