What Pays More Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN)?

Yahoo Cashing in on the backs of publishersThousands of bloggers are trying to make money on their sites. If you could make more money using another network would you change advertising networks? Of course you would. Many publishers have tried both Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN) and in the months following YPN’s beginning of beta testing (which they still claim to do today) we saw some comparisons. What Pays More Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network

Since the initial comparisons we have not seen anything. I have tested the ads on the same sites for a fair comparison. I know what Ad network is paying better. I know what ad network ic currently the network to use.

Yahoo Publisher Network is currently paying more on most sites. While Yahoo is paying less than they were a month ago they still are paying almost 40% more a click. So if you are making 50 cents a click on Google Adsense then you will normally make 70 cents per click on YPN. That is a huge raise. Do you need a raise? Now Yahoo pricing changes dramatically and Google can vary although doesn’t seem to vary as much as YPN.

There is another bright side for YPN. While they currently pay 40% more per click on average when compared to Google Adsense this is the low point in the year for their payouts. As recent as 2 weeks ago they were paying 40% more than they were paying now. So that 70 cent click was paying closer to $1. That is right! Yahoo was paying $1 per click when Google pays 50 cents.

Now this is a huge raise! Am I saying that Yahoo will ultimately pay more for everyone? Nope. It won’t. We all know that Yahoo doesn’t target as well which could mean a lower CTR (Click-Through-Rate) for many websites. This does not mean all websites will experience a lower CTR. It is a site by site result. I have a site that the CTR is almost identical using both Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher Network. So I choose YPN. On other sites I am choosing to use Google Adsense.

So check them both out if you have the opportunity. You might as well find out what works best for your websites and give yourself a raise by choosing the highest paying network . Google Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network what pays the best for you?

  1. I am signed up for both services and I have tried YPN a while back. I currently use Adsense for my site, but when I used YPN back then for a period of 1-2 weeks, I have seen a much higher revenue for each click. Not sure if it’s because of the keywords that were used, but I’m basing it all on a per-click basis. So, I’d say Yahoo pays more than Google.

  2. yahoo has been paying more per click than adsense but targeting was poor which resulted in less clicks, ypn is getting worse with time.
everyone on i know have switched back to adsense which they had left expecting ypn to become better choise

Embassy – I still use them and am pleased most of the time. Notice I didn’t say all the time. It varies by site.

  4. Sounds like an accurate comparison. The number one thing is really the CTR which is directly influenced by the relevance of the adverts. Yahoo has far less advertisers than Google so that in itself will cause the CTR to be lower, as there won’t be as many adverts to serve. Also, I’d imagine Googles algorithm, which is used to find the relevance is more advanced than Yahoo’s.

Ironically, I applied several months ago for YPN for a site that gets nearly 1,000 a day. It’s a white-hat site and believe it or not, they declined my application. I don’t like being denied so I’ll probably never have anything to do with Yahoo again :)

  5. I think that higher rates are due to making their own promotion. If yahoo reaches the same user level they will give lower rates ads.

I used Google as for me they are more established and better branded with a much larger customer base. This could be because I am based in the UK.

  7. Deepak Jain says:

one of the most important difference infront of me is that one can use google adsense codec with other add networks but for ypn its not the same

i also have one question whether we can use ypn with blogger.com blogsite?

I cannot comment on Yahoo network, franly never used it but, Google really sucks they are banning people for no reason and pocketing all the which was supposed to be publisher’s fair share..another thing I have noticed is that if google adwords charges publishers $5-$6 for certain keywords poor publishers are only receiving 50- 60 cents in revenue…Well, that’s how you become a billion dollars company..by sucking someone’s blood…
