So as many of you know I do like Technorati. It has seen better days but there is a little hope left, or so I thought.
Now with MoreMerchant.com we have never been able to claim our site so that it can be listed with Technorati. I have emailed Technorati support numerous times over the past 18 months but I have never been able to claim this site. I have also posted on their forums but nothing has come of it yet.
I still after 18+ months can’t claim my site. So today I find a number on the Technorati site that is clearly labeled not for support but there is no other way to contact them except via email.
So I call thee number and get a pleasant sounding girl that tells me that she doesn’t really care, she can’t do anything, so email support. I once again plainly explain to her that I have emailed them many times over the past 18 months and nothing has happened. She then responds there is nothing we can do and hangs up.
What I know about the internet is that customer service still reigns. If I take the time to help them improve and they treat me rude, they will not make it in the long run. I knew that she shouldn’t be able to do anything, but could go the extra mile to try and help me. Instead she treats me very rude and then hangs up.
All I want to do is claim our website! Isn’t this actually helping Technorati by giving them more of what their business is? So really this is a you scratch my back I Scratch yours business. Technorati is not having it. They will not scratch your back, so go ahead and scratch theirs by sending them thousands of links from your site, but they won’t bend over backwards for you. They won’t even do their job and help get you listed.
Technorati has major problems and if they don’t solve their biggest problem of terrible customer service they will slowly go the way of the hairball.
UPDATE This blog post made Technorati fix the problem. MoreMerchant can now be found on Technorati.

Congrats Jake. I have been having doubts about the usefulness of Technorati myself. Not sure how their rank and authority numbers are calculated. Keeps fluctuating.
And with that kind of customer service, they are a sinking ship.
But glad you finally got your site listed on Technorati.
Cheers
Yes, without improvements they won’t be going places.
