If you have read my blog lately I got rid of Entrecard for one reason. I was alerted from a friend at Google that they were going to punish sites that were using it. I trust this friend so I removed it. Then of course Google does their pagerank update the past couple of days and MoreMerchant.com gets SPANKED royally. Moremerchant currently sits at a 0.
I do hope that Google fixes this soon. This site doesn’t deserve a 0 nor does it deserve a 7 or 8, but somewhere in the middle is where it should sit. This site has been around for awhile and been very consistent. It is a Top 35 by Technorati bases on Fans, does fairly well in Alexa thus I would hope Google would at least honor the hard work with a 3 or 4. I think a 5 is more deserving but shoot a 1 at this point would feel better than a slap in the fast.
So I am reconsidering putting Entrecard back on. While I have liked Google in the past it almost seems as if Entrecard send higher quality of traffic. Of course with Entrecard you get the people who just click, but you also get a large percentage or consistent readers.
What do you think? Should I give Entrecard another shot since Google can’t be trusted?
Well its the first time i have heard that Google is going to punish sites using Entrecard, what could possibly be the reason for it.
Entrecard is a very useful tool for bloggers and yes you might get people just interested in dropping there card but you also get people interested in reading your blog.
People need to stop worrying about the little green bar it means nothing, pagerank is dead and needs to be done away with.
I think with Google Turning its back on you, you should go for more traffic, any kind of traffic, whatever traffic….

I think u must use Entrecard . how can Google penalize you or your site as Using Entrecard is not against the Terms of Condition of Adsense…. what you think?? i am also using it… & i have PR-4 .. I think my site have survived the Google Page Rank update of July 2008… although my fingers are crossed..

I love Entrecard! I definitely think you should put it back. It’s a wonderful way to find new blogs and although there are just “card droppers” the Sez Who is intended to address that issue somewhat. Also, so what if they just come to drop, they may see something interesting in the process and come back. What have you got to lose?
As far a the page rank goes, my PNN blog without entrecard is rated a 3 and my two blogspot ones that I have entrecards on are not rated. Don’t know why.

My traffic went up when I joined entrecard. Good for some, bad for others maybe?
I believe Entrecard will give quality traffic, of course if you have interesting contents. Google will punish sites using EC if they hate bloggers lol
I don’t know if Google will hate EC. But i like to use it to get some traffic. Its worth to me.
My few blogs which are frequently updated were ranked by Google with between PR2 to PR4. And all those blogs were installed with EC widget.
And the EC traffic exchange (TE) ratio is much better than most TE site.
