It seems Google is not giving up the war on Paid Links. I see value in the war, but I also see harm in this vicious attack on the way people support their families.
You see I have steadily increased my earnings in area away from Google Adsense and YPN. why? Diversity is the key. Yet, Google doesn’t like diversity because int he end it only takes people away from them.
I do think Google is waging a war on better search results on their search engine, yet I know as well as anyone that will take a second to think about it will also know that this isn’t the only reason why Google is waging a war on links. They want to monopolize the internet. Of course. How else can you keep your stock price growing at over 50 times earnings?
As in all monopolies they try to limit competition. Google has yet to be proven out as a monopoly yet we now see the limiting of competition. A tell-tell sign of a monopoly.
If Google cared so much about bad search terms in their engine they would ban the straight out spam sites. Oh Wait! Many of these have Adsense on them. Hmm..
What is Google supposed to do?
Google and it’s war on links is striking at families. Imagine a single mom working on the net 8 hours a day after they get off their day job. This person does this to make ends meet. Without it they can’t pay for their kids shoes, and school supplies. So they put in countless hours to build quality sites. They try Adsense at first and it makes them some side money, but they they try to diversify because the Lord only knows when Google may ban them. So they sell some paid links. These links are normally pretty decent links because the person buying them wants them on a site that will get them clicks. They also know that the Google bots look for links that are relevant to the site they are on. So these paid links are pretty good quality. So the woman trying to pay for school supplies is doing much better now. She can work all day at her day job to pay the bills, and they stay at home during the evening working on her sites to pay for the other things that she would otherwise be unable to pay for.
I want to end it here, but do you get my point? Google is attacking the people just trying to make it. They are attacking that single mom that is trying to afford the school supplies her kids need. Google’s war on links is not the right way to go. They need to go after spam sites, not quality paid links.
Google, don’t hurt the people trying to make an honest income. The very people that have helped you make Google what it is today.
What is your take on the whole Google Paid Links / Pagerank thing?
[tags]Google, Adsense, Paid links, pagerank, goog[/tags]
People will always find ways to make money off or exploit google in a way google does not like. Google will go after them and then people will come up with new ways to exploit google, not necessarily for good or bad.
I do get your point of how google should be going after the spam sites and definitely agree with them.
I have faved you.
I think that this is terrible actually. People should have their own choice as to what they link to on their sites. Text links provide great income for some sites, and while I haven’t had that opportunity yet, I would like to try.
Google should not be doing this.
I agree with you. It’s not just the single moms either. I am a mom trying to be a stay at home mom so that I can be more involved by doing volunteer work. I gave up a full time job and use paid posts as my replacement income. Before I signed up for paid posting I put adsense on my site. In one month’s time I earned 11 cents. I’d have to say I am not the only one that can’t do much with 11 cents!
I think it is a conflict of interest that Google is punishing sites who do advertising for other companies other than Google by reducing their page ranks.
Exactly my point. Google should be embarrassed. Go after web spam, not valid websites who are making money just as Google does.
This is the same thing that tv stations do. They are paid, why shouldn’t we get paid?
they cant fight web spam and tries stuff like this, I really wonder what effect will this have on making search results better.
people have built quality sites and they will decide whether to sell links on them or not, why dropping them from results? does selling a link mean my content is crap? if it was people would not buy links from me,
Dumb Google!
I think they are getting it wrong. Useless links are no good but don’t attack the small business person like myself.
If there is any war, I think it’s on link sellers. Google seems to hate that.
My experience has been that solo backlinks are still king.
The internet is loaded with con men. I write extensively on these people, and can kind of see Google’s point of view. A ittle paranoia here. I guess even giant corporations can have this affliction.
Its a war on everybody! Not just link brokers but link sellers and link buyers!
