Get Ready for Airlines to Raise the Price NOT because of Fuel

United-Continental-mergerDo you like the high gas prices?

Well get ready to pay even higher airline tickets! No, not just because of high fuel prices. One of the reasons you are paying high gas prices at the pump is because lack of competition. Remember back a few years ago when all the gas companies merged? Texaco and Chevron etc…

Well lack of competition brings about higher gas prices.

Now Delta (DAL) merged with Northwest (NWA). This week Continental (CAL) and United (UAUA) are trying to merge. There has also been talk of an American(AMR) / Continental merger.

So lack of competition is going to bring about a HUGE increase in the price of tickets. When fuel went from $1.25 to $3.50 and still going up. the price of an airline ticket is set to go from $300 to $700 or so.

Tell Congress to STOP these monopolies. Don’t let the airlines do this and break up the big gas companies.

Hmmm, I’d think that a huge increase in ticket price would cause a further drop in air travel, which will cause a trickle down effect for all of the destinations that rely on tourism income - we’ll see!

Are you serious? Looks like I might not be flying out to go on a cruise next year.
