Entrecard is Dead

I killed Entrecard today. I removed it from MoreMerchant.com. I think it is a fun idea that has helped hundreds if not thousands of bloggers to develop blogs much quicker than if it was not around.

I do feel that Google may be punishing some people that use it. Also I feel that my advertisers do not like it as much either. Adsense and YPN do not want to pay as much per click. This could be due to the summer doldrums, or as I think both the summer doldrums and advertisers not liking Entrecard viewers.

So would I use Entrecard again? You bet I would. On the right blog at the right time I would definitely use Entrecard. It can help you get a blog off the ground quicker, thus weight your options and choose Entrecard if it can help you. But, and this is a big but… Know when to kill Entrecard.

I totally agree with your decision.

EntreCard is good to take the site off the ground. but as you are stable and have good readership and a reasonable CTR ratio.. you should consider removing the EntreCard as this brings people who are not consumers… they are just interested in their drop. real customers for whom YPN and Adsense are targeting are people coming through organic means.

Have you had any advertisers actually mention entrecard? I’m just curious. I’m just now putting effort into building traffic for my site, so I have yet to encounter the negative side of entrecard. Other than the drama in the forums.

I’m new in entrecard. One thing that questionable to me is why Google punish entrecard user?

You have actually really kind of freaked me out by saying that Google might punish entrecard users!
I just hope something like that does not happen!

I killed entrecard on my sites today… Goodbye Entre card

Strange thing is that I see a traffic surge…

May be I am putting the time used to drop cards to other more productive social media marketing activities.

Also I am putting more time in quality of my posts..

    Wish me luck please

Entrecard does suck for getting the sort of traffic that are good for Adsense (and similar) adverts..

I think you should only use it on a blog that you are trying to make money from indirectly (if that makes sense)..

With regard to page rank dropping - this should not affect your traffic noticeably anyway - just google’s way of saying they will not put as much weight on outgoing links any more (In my opinion)..

I don’t think PR drop and EC had any connection in between them !!

Google punish EC users? How come? I don’t get it..
It might be not suitable for advertisers right now, but what I see that EC Team are trying to encourage the users to stay more longer by making some comments. That’s they doing with sezWho, I think…

Well.. Entre card is good for initial kickoff, but when your site reaches above 1000 visits per day.. I say drop it…. and capitalize on the momentum.. try to get organic search engine traffic for your blog…
