Do as we DO

My friend at My New Choice has an article that is quite interesting:

One of the steps that I feel is critical is setting a positive example for your children to follow. While it is important to create an allowance for your kids and have guidelines on how that money should be divided, they need to see similar behaviors from you.

Isn’t that the way it should be? It is so easy to expect children to do what we say not as we do. We need to show them by how we manage our money. Make sure you not only say the way things should be, but live by them as well.

Take the time to teach your kids about money, and then continue teaching them by living it yourself.

Sometimes it is hard as a parent to preach to your children but not follow those words yourself. It is important to be honest with yourself as well and hold yourself to the same standards you are trying to teach your children.
