Brief background of Visa payment system

This plastic inside our wallets are the probably one of the more important things to bring whenever we go out. Almost everything can be bought if you have a credit card that isn’t maxed out. Most of the plastics have the insignias of Visa or Mastercard but there’s a great chance we really have no idea what these insignias are for.

This article talks about Visa and what it’s about.

Visa, Inc., the company that runs what could be the world’s biggest facility for electronic payment network is based in California US. It was founded 50 years ago by Dee Hock who envisioned that there will be a transformation or shift in the way people will be buying and selling in the future. The company pioneered the use of digital money and soon, people from more than 150 countries worldwide have come to accept this payment system.

The vision manifested fully when the Internet made it possible for everyone to get connected real-time via computers. Visa is a payment system that crosses borders and makes transactions easier and faster via its products like credit and debit cards.

Visa provides the network facility for management of payment among banks, merchants, consumers, businesses, and government. The logo on so many cards ensures that any transaction made with that card will be secured and reliable. Every time someone swipes his credit card for a purchase, the payment protocols in place will manage the financial funding system in which a consumer’s participation will be at the end of the billing period when he pays for his balance.
