It is the end of the summer and time to get ready for school. Have you done your school clothes shopping? You haven’t? Well join the crowd. Most people are slow in getting started for the school year. The summers keep getting shorter it seems.

Now is the time to get a move on the school shopping. Now is the time to save some money. Look for tax free weekends that many states are offering now, and try to find stores that are combining this with some great sales.

Whatever you do, don’t buy on credit. Putting it on credit when you can’t pay off the entire bill when it comes only puts you farther behind? Those $29 pair of Levis can end up costing you upwards of $100 by the time you pay it off. Those $50 tennis shoes could be as much as $150 – $200. Is the price of debt worth it?

Look for sales and pay cash. If you can’t pay for it now wait to purchase until you can. Your kids will survive with last year’s or a cheaper pair of sneakers.

Do your family a favor and save some money.
