Adsense, YPN and Text Links

Yahoo Cashing in on the backs of publishersThis is a quick recap because I only have a minute and wanted to say something about what Yahoo has been doing to a large handful of their publishers the last 2 weeks.

YPN (Yahoo Publisher Network) has decided to take as much profit as they can from November to the end of the year. To do this they have lowered the Pay Per Click to lower than Adsense. Adsense has a terrible payout rate, so for Yahoo to beat them at this game of taking as much as they can from their publishers is awful. It is hard to do. Google is like an evil dictator controlling the world, and take what they want. It is amazing that YPN is doing this to many of their publishers who have stuck with them.

Since the Google Pagerank Fiasco… on a side note Google has even done more harm since their first 3 Google Pagerank trashings. yet it has gone almost unreported. Suspicious? Not really, Google took care of the big dogs, such as top name bloggers and screwed a lot of the medium guys like myself. If you were just getting started or are smaller then you most likely didn’t feel the pain. Just middle guys got attacked.

OK back to Google and Text Links Ads (TLA and others). My Text Link ads have been making more money since the pagerank ordeal. If this continues I see myself taking off all Google and YPN ads and going fully to other sources. Pagerank is almost dead, and if Google continues what they have done it will be dead within 12 months. Alexa is more accurate (sick).

So quick and dirty update. Yahoo which has a very small market share thinks they can get away with something nasty. What they will do is hurt themselves even more in the long run. Their YPN has been pitiful to say the least, but the one thing they had going for them was better pay per click to make up for their subpar system. Take away they pay and you are a bottom dweller. This is not what I think Yahoo wants to be.
