I am using Google Insights more and more for my online research. I use this for many things but lately to help me decide to launch a blog or not. So let’s say I want to launch a blog on fireworks I do some research to target my market and to see if Fireworks is a growing market or not.
Today I have been researching advertising or more specific internet advertising or dollars being spent on advertising online. The growth in online advertising dollars seems to be huge. For one my pocket book thinks so.
But, does the chart actually back up all the talk?
The blue line is online marketing which doesn’t seem to be bullish or bearish. It seems stagnant. One would think this would trend upwards. So I typed in Google Adwords (red line) to gauge advertising a bit deeper. It is growing nicely with a nice trend upwards. Definitely a slow bullish trend for Adwords.
I wanted to verify the online marketing stagnation so I typed in online advertising which is the orange line. You see it duplicates the very stagnant online marketing.
>> Is online advertising dollars actually growing? I think so, but this Google Trend doesn’t seem to agree.
As I looked deeper Google Trends put these as the top search results which could help us nail this down a bit more.
1. online internet marketing
2. online business
3. marketing online business
4. online advertising
5. free online marketing
6. web marketing
7. online marketing jobs
8. marketing research
9. online marketing research
10. media marketing online
No huge surprises here. I feel that the online advertising industry is growing, Google Adwords/Adsense is growing at a much faster rate than the rest of the industry as one would expect. But, the industry may not be as healthy as one would gather from the word on the street.
