Escrow and ING Direct $25 Bonus

In Texas property tax is very high. We will pay around $7000 a year or so on our home in taxes. Pretty high! I opted to not use escrow and keep the money myself so I can earn interest through the year.

So I am looking to banks such as ING direct to do this. I am looking for a $25 referral link and have asked a friend to send me one. I get $25 and he gets $10 when i open my account with at least $250.

It is not much but is a nice thank-you from Ingdirect. If you need one I should have a few ING referrals to pass around once I get it opened up. (more…)

Freedom – own Your Home

Investing in your own home. I have rented most of my married life. Now I am in my own home as most of you know as you have been reading about our 2 week close on our mortgage.
Fixing things in your own home is so much better than fixing up someone else’s home. If we gain 4 – 5% a year in our home, this isn’t the best return but buckled with the tax benefits, it is much better than renting and gaining nothing. (more…)

We Closed in 2 Weeks on our Home

Yesterday we closed on our house in 2 weeks from the day the offer was accepted. Many people were surprised that we were able to get it done so quick.

My recommendations on closing so fast is to keep on top of the loan officers, insurance, inspections, appraisals, and everything else needed to close. There is not time to waste when closing on a house.

Closing fast on a home is not that hard to do. Get your paperwork in, and get the required things done as soon as possible. (more…)

2 Week Close on Mortgage

Today we are closing on a home in the North Houston area. We are excited like most people are when closing on a home. The mortgage with E-Loan took 2 weeks from the time we had an accepted offer to close! That is fast service.

We worked hard getting inspections, appraisals, title work and more. All in all a 2 week close is pretty fast!
