What do use the most of credit cards, debit cards, checks or cash?
Credit Cards and Gift Cards Blog:

Paper vs. plastic what is your choice?
Most people these days rarely even consider anything but debit or credit cards. Why write a check or keep cash around? Credit and debit cards are much easier and easier to track.

Even paper checks that are written are quickly turned into electronic payments often times at the place of purchase. At the bank they are always changed into electronic payments.

More and more will continue to use credit and debit cards when purchasing things. There will be a segment of the population that will continue to use paper checks, these are the people you will get stuck behind at the grocery store.

I definitely use my debit card for 40% or more of my transactions. I would use debit (Interac in Canada) more but I use my Visa card because I earn miles. I make sure and pay this off monthly to avoid finance charges.
What do you use for purchasing?

Secured credit cards are great for those who want to build strong credit history.

Protect yourself against credit card fraud

Sign new cards immediately. When you receive your new or replacement credit card in the mail, sign it, in ink, immediately. If it is a replacement credit card, destroy the old credit card by cutting it into small pieces. It is advised to throw the old credit card away in multiple places.

ThiefShred old credit card receipts. You can purchase an inexpensive paper shredder at an office supply store. All old receipts with your credit card number and any unneeded documents with your social isecurity number or other sensitive personal information should be shredded before disposal. This prevents the common practice of criminals going through the trash to find receipts and stealing your identity. This seems far fetched but happens thousands of times each month.

Protecting yourself against fraud is simple. Take these easy steps and limit and chances of credit or other fraud.

Negotiate for a lower rate with your credit card company.
If you have a good credit history, you are a valuable asset to your credit card company. Call them and seek ways to lower your interest rate.

This is often possible, but never advertised. If the interest rate you are currently paying is very high, imply you may cancel the card and go with a competitor unless they adjust your rate downward. It doesn’t hurt to ask, and you may be surprised at the results.

Save yourself money and call your credit card company and ask for a better rate. You will often be glad you did.
